HONOREE - CURTIS HARRIS Curtis has over 30 years of experience in public finance, having served as the principal banker on a wide variety of infrastructure projects for municipal clients, including general obligation, utility revenue, transportation, and education issues. He is currently a Managing Director at Rice Financial. Previous positions include Director at Merrill Lynch, Director at Barclay’s, and Managing Director at Academy Securities. Curtis’ many municipal clients span the United States and have included the states of New York, Connecticut, and California, the District of Columbia, New York City, the city of Houston, and numerous utility and transportation entities. Curtis is a 1978 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps. Upon completion of his military commitment, Curtis resigned as a captain and matriculated into the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, where he earned an MBA in Finance and Marketing in 1985. Curtis’ board appointments include the NYC School Construction Authority, the New York Athletic Club Board of Governors, President of the West Point Society of New York, the Wildlife Conservation Society, and Riverside Church. Curtis’ was a U.S. Army officer from 1978 to 1983 in the Ordnance Corps at Fort Ord, CA, and Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. He was promoted to first lieutenant, captain, and completed U.S. Army Airborne Paratrooper School as a cadet during the summer of 1976. Additional service includes serving as platoon leader of a 42-member unit, commanding a 350-person unit for logistic support of divisional field training exercises, teaching leadership and management principals to newly commissioned officers, and teaching advanced logistics principals to senior grade U.S. and international officers. For two years, Curtis chaired the West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) Advisory Council’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, organizing their first-ever Diversity Conference. He is a WPAOG Board Director, Chair of the Finance Committee and serves on the Investment, Audit, and Compensation Committees, including award committees, such as the Thayer and Distinguished Graduate awards. Curtis is a member of the Army A Club, since 1985. He serves on Congressman Adriano Espaillat’s Service Academy Nomination Committee, screening high school applications for congressional appointments. Curtis lives in New York City. His three children include Curtis Jr., Kristen (U. of Pennsylvania), and Holden (Dartmouth College). He is an avid golfer, having played many courses throughout the world; his activities include photography and biking.
